Twitter LogoTwitter can be a great resource for entertainers and vendors if you know which accounts to follow. As we said in the first post of our new blog series,“Who to Follow on Twitter,” even if you never send out a single tweet, following the right people, organizations, and media outlets on Twitter is a great way to stay up to date and get a step ahead of your competition.

Our focus today is the world of comedy. We've pulled together a few Twitter accounts that, besides just being funny to read, are great resources for comedians of all kinds. Some are just funny while others might help you get a gig or learn a new technique or new approach to your craft.

Conan O’Brien @ConanOBrien

The TV host, comedian, writer, producer and performer's self-deprecating humor has landed him dozens of awards and consideration as one of the top comedians around. Writing for Saturday Night Live and The Simpsons, appearing in numerous sketches and starring in Late Night with Conan O’Brien for 11 years, Coco knows what it takes to rise up in comedy. Plus, his hilarious tweets will leave you literally laughing out loud.

With its award winning content and personalities, Comedy Central, the only all-comedy television network, was an obvious pick for our list. It has premiered countless original comedy programs since 1991 including South Park, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and the Comedy Central Roast and more.

Seth MacFarlane @SethMacFarlane

This distinguished comedian is best known for creating the hit TV show Family Guy and co-creating American Dad! and The Cleveland Show. Seth has also won two Emmys and just wrapped up a gig hosting the Oscars. The popularity of his characters, like Peter and Stewie Griffin and the raunchy teddy bear Ted, along with his edgy sense of humor have earned Seth nearly 4 million followers on Twitter.

Effin Funny @effinfunny
This is a great resource for aspiring comedians. They tweet new and original clips of stand-up and sketch comedy every day from today’s up and coming comedians. They also provide information about tapings, instructional videos such as “How to Improvise Comedy,” comedians to follow and other means to get your name out there. Some of these comedians have even ended up on Comedy Central. Who knows, you may be next!

The Friars Club @TheFriarsClub

Founded in 1904, The Friars Club is famous for its bold celebrity roasts. The exclusive club is made up of comedians and other celebrities. Their motto, “We only roast the ones we love," has been applied to past-roastees like Bruce Willis, Drew Carey, Donald Trump, and most recently Betty White in May 2012.
