We already know that you already know about the amazing music platform SoundCloud since we told you about it (with a little help from a SoundCloud Evangelist) in this post. You have probably also heard of Tumblr, the micro-blogging site that has been used to start over 20 million blogs. But did you know that Tumblr and SoundCloud are BFFs?
There has been a lot of love going back and forth between the two sites recently as they announced that they have integrated their services. This means a bunch of new features for all you blogging musicians and music fans out there. Specifically:
- Record and share to Tumblr – Capture audio on-the-fly from SoundCloud and share your recordings directly to Tumblr.
- Auto-publish new sounds and favorites – You can now choose to automatically push your new SoundCloud uploads and favorites to your Tumblr blog.
- Search SoundCloud on Tumblr – When creating an audio post, you can now search, preview and post audio from SoundCloud onto Tumblr.
- Easy sharing – Found something on SoundCloud you like? Grab the url and post it as an external source on Tumblr Audio posts.
This post from SoundCloud's company Tumblr (confusing, I know) explains the integrated features in greater detail.
So why should you care?
Both of these sites are very easy to use and are great for promoting your music. In 2011 just being a good musician isn't enough. You also need promotion or no one is going to get to hear you. And these days just about all promotion is done online.
The good news is that it doesn't take much tech knowledge to get the job done as the best sites are the easiest to use.
We want to hear about your adventures on Tumblr and SoundCloud. Got an account with either? Leave us your url in the comment section below!
