StoryAmp: Connecting Musicians & Journalists

Posted by Drew Stoga on August 8, 2011

StoryAmpMusicians, have you ever felt like the press is ignoring you? Can't get a music journalist to return an email let alone write a story about your band? You are not alone. Luckily StoryAmp.com, a self-marketing service that aims to connect musicians and the press, has your back.

Unfortunately the "build it and they will come" approach doesn't always work in the music business. You could be the best band in the world but if no one is talking about you, no one will hear your music.

StoryAmp aims to make it easy for artists and music journalists to connect by creating a shared set of tools that both groups can use. By making it simpler for journalists to sift through pitches, they hope to make it easier for the truly talented, and organized, artists to stick out.

The site is set to launch this week and as incentive to future users, it is offering a 60 page free ebook "Amplify Your Story: Getting More Press Through the Art of the Pitch." The book features advice from many top players in the web-music world who reference real artists who have had real success pitching to journalists.

Giving away a free book like this is certainly a nice gesture (and a great marketing tactic) but what will StoryAmp offer once it goes live? We will keep an eye on it for you.
