How to Select Your Categories [Video]

Posted by Peter Gavin on April 27, 2012

In this video tutorial, we will show you how to select your categories for your Profile. This will determine how clients find you on GigMasters and will directly affect the kind of gig requests that you receive.

Update: The "Press Kit" tab has been changed to the "Profile" tab.

If you're not into watching videos, follow these steps:

To get started, login to your Control Panel, then select the "Profile" tab. Click the Edit link for "Category Selections." Depending on your membership level, you have 6, 12 or 18 categories to choose from. We recommend that you choose a broader, more popular Primary Category to get more exposure. For example, if you're a Jazz Band that also does Swing music - we recommend that you choose Jazz Band as your primary, and Swing Band as an additional category.

After you make your selections, click the "Update Categories" button. You can then view your categories on your live Profile. Keep in mind that your search results ranking is based on your location, booking dollars and your categories. So make sure you select all of the relevant genres that apply to your act. For more info on selecting your categories, check out this post.
